Museums are the love of my life

Yesterday, my entire Art History class went on a field trip to the Modern Museum of Art//Kendall Museum in Ft. Worth. I had an amazing time. The only downside was that we only got to spend 20 minutes at the Kendall Museum, so we didn't get to go look at all the art works. They had an amazing collection of art! Okay, I won't go rambling about that.

I started the morning off with some coffee and some major cramming for the Art History test I had to take in the morning since we got snowed in the day before and couldn't take the test.

I'm never going to get Truffle Mocha coffee again because it didn't taste very good.

At the museum, they had really neat-o bathrooms

Why there needs to be a coat hanging in the bathroom, that I do not know.

We walked across the street to a Mexican restaurant. They grew cabbages in the front of the building. The food there was mediocre. They put their salt in a Corona bottle.

A coat room sign... it was a real coat room as in you could leave your coat in the room and the guy at the table will give it back to you when you leave!

Photobucket

I forgot what this painting was called.

This artwork was made from an accumulation of trash found on the streets of Los Angeles. There's promotional posters and like random scraps of paper put together into one giant work of art! This was my favorite piece besides the Andy Warhol ones.

So many mirrors!

Dear Texas

Dear Texas,

I really wish you'd stop being a little bitch about the weather. I'm so tired of having it be 78° one day and have ice on the road the next day. You're starting to really piss me off. I mean isn't everything supposed to be better in Texas? EVERYTHING! THAT INCLUDES THE WEATHER! I mean, if you're going to make the weather shitty, at least give us some snow! Not this ice/sleet shit that you want us to imagine is snow. If you're going to take away my only day off in April, at least make it worth it! LET ME BUILD A SNOWMEN NOT A FREAKING ICEMAN!

Speaking of things that piss me off. This morning I woke up to the sound of text messages. What could they be? Oh surprise! Look what they all say "OMG NO SCHOOL!!111!!11" No shit dude? I think I got the point after the FIRST MESSAGE! Thank you for thinking of me, but seriously. It's so annoying. Plus, you already knew we had a 2 hour delay. What's the point of waking up at 6 to see if you have school when you can just wake up at like 10, since we have a half day and all, to see if we have school. Not only did you wake me up with your annoying text messages, but you're also just being an idiot.

Crocs

So, someone sent me this article about crocs and I just found it hilarious.
------------------------------------------

Crocs look like shit and they make your feet smell.

When I see people wearing Crocs, I know immediately that we have nothing in common, and that we could never be friends or have any meaningful kind of relationship. They come in every color imaginable yet look bad with every other article of clothing ever created. The only thing that goes with Crocs is social ostracism.

To their credit though, Crocs serve as an excellent idiot barometer; you can tell a lot about people wearing them. For example, Amazon.com suggest products that other customers have purchased based on the item you're shopping for. Here are the suggestions for Crocs:

When it comes to shoes, there are usually three deciding factors: quality, price, and style. Some shoes are cheap and stylish, but poor quality, while others are stylish and durable, but expensive. Crocs usually go for $30-$60, which doesn't sound like much for a shoe, until you consider that what you're really paying for are melted pellets squirted into a cast-iron mold in some province in China. Crocs have the rare combination of being expensive, poor quality, and ugly. It's quite a feat for one shoe to suck this bad.

People who wear Crocs go on and on about how comfortable they are, and how it's supposedly odor resistant because it's made out of some kind of anti-bacterial foam. Great point, dipshits! You know what else it's resistant to? You getting laid. Then as if the shoes weren't disgusting enough, Crocs introduced a product called "Crocs butter" that's supposed to restore that illustrious injection-molded sheen to those gaping holes they call shoes:

You know that feeling you get when you're full and slightly nauseous and you burp and you can taste the partly digested food in the back of your throat? There isn't a word in the english language to succinctly describe it, but I will hereby refer to it as: croc-butter.

What an unpleasant day.

For the past two days, I've been uninspired to write anything interesting. Sadly, I'm still uninspired to write anything. So, just bare with me.

What a day! It started off pretty badly. I woke up at 7:30 this morning and checked my phone as I always do when I wake up. First thing I see, one missed call from Pedro. Then I knew... I was late for sectionals. "SHIT" I screamed as I scrambled out of bed into the bathroom. Brushed my teeth and changed in record time. Ran down the stairs, grabbed my keys, and sped to school. None of my efforts accounted for anything because I got kicked out of rehearsal and received a 0 as a quiz grade. What a way to start off the day!

The only exciting thing that happened today during school hours was watching President Obama's inauguration.

Despite his little mess-up during his oath, he defiantly made it up in his speech. He speaks so eloquently and his voice is so soothing.

I had an interview with Hollister today but it took a lot of effort to think of what to wear. I had to dig in my closet last night to find a Hollister shirt. I havn't worn Hollister in like two years! Well, I found a shirt and some old Abercrombie jeans and wore it for my interview. I had to go to a group interview, and to tell you the truth, there was only one good looking person there. They have a dress code. You have to wear something from their store, and it has to be blue, grey, or white coloured with jeans and flip flops or vans. I guess that's not that bad, I can deal with those rules. I hope my interview went well cause I really need another job.

Omg. So Jason is the sweetest guy ever! I know this is totally lame and you probably think it's stupid, but you know how it's the small things that count? So, I went to go eat dinner and when I came back he was gone, but he left me a note.

Okay, I know, totally LAME, but still... it's adorable <3

I'm too lazy to go through and check my grammar and spelling, so sorry if there's a lot of mistakes.

Confessions of a shopaholic

I'm so sad cause I left my tiny green camera at Kumon. I wanted to post a picture of the breakfast I had this morning, but I suppose not. This morning I had kolaches from Kolache Heaven and a Passionfruit Iced Tea from Starbucks. Kolache Heaven has the best kolaches in the entire universe! The only downside to this spectacular miracle is that the place closes at noon. WHAT IF YOU WANT KOLACHES IN THE AFTERNOON?! Blaspheme.

So, after work, I went to go get my hair cut. You can't really tell though because I just got my hair and bangs trimmed. I can tell it's cut, but only cause I like physically watched the hairdresser cut my hair, you know? My hair looks thicker cause she made some of my layers the same, but otherwise it looks the same. After my hair escapade, I went to the mall to go return my AP study books that I purchased but didn't use. While digging through my wallet frantically to find my receipt, I had a sudden epiphany and realized I left the receipt at home. So, I didn't get to return my books! It's uber lame.  Instead of brooding over my misery, I went shopping! I purchased 2 dresses, a tank, and a scarf! I love my dress, it's very Robin Hood-esque. I don't know what shoes to wear with it though, but I suppose I can think about that another day. I just hope the weather will permit me to wear is sometime soon!

At Forever 21, I saw this article of clothing that I cannot particularly identify as either a skirt or a shirt. In my opinion it's way to short to be either. You be the judge.

I've fallen in love with big glasses with funky coloured frames. Too bad I can't wear sunglasses/fake glasses on a regular basis because I would have to wear them over my real glasses and that would just look silly. I think I'm going to get contacts soon to eradicate this dilemma though (:

Ugh. My room is a mess. I clean it every night, but it just gets messy again the next day! It's starting to get irritating. I need a new way to organize my cloths, or maybe, I just need more chairs (:

Driving in a freezing car

HAPPY ONE MONTH JASON MOK <3

So today when I was driving to Jason's house, I felt like a koala stuck in the middle of an ice storm. The inside of my car was probably -30 degrees and since my car doesn't have a heater, so I didn't have a chance to warm up at all. Thank goodness Jason's house was warm and toasty or else I would of froze to death. Today, Jason and I baked chocolate cake. We added chocolate pudding and chocolate chips in the cake batter because the the box said that if we did, the cake would be extra moist and chocolaty. The box was right because the finished product was really delish. It tasted even better with vanilla ice cream on the side! Unfortunately, I didn't really feel like taking pictures while we were baking. I know, who wouldn't want to take pictures, but I just didn't get to get my camera all chocolaty and sticky. I took a picture of half the cake when I got home though.

It doesn't look as good as it tastes.

Driving home alone in the dark is so depressing, so I wanted to get home quickly. Like always, I over the speed limit driving 75 mph in a 55 mph speed zone. I tried to take a picture of my speedometer but it turned out really blurry.

On a totally non-related topic, last night, I was talking to Kenneth about how I wanted to clean my room cause it was so messy. There were clothes strewn about my floor, bed, and closet areas. This is what he responded with:

Lol, he always makes me laugh about the stupidest things. I never thought of that as a solution. Anywho, he said that I can be the official photographer for his band! I'm so excited! Of course it won't be until the weather is warmer though cause I'm not a huge fan of the cold weather. With that said, if anyone knows any really neat locations to photograph at, even if it means we have to trespass, that would be amazing (:

A classic eulogy

I'm finally finished with final exams! Oh the joy! Calculus caused me so much pain. Last night, when I was studying, not only was I exhausted and just wanted to go to sleep, but I also had an awful tummy ache.

School seems to be less important as college is approaching. I know grades are important and everything, but senioritics is hitting me hard. Like I said before, I didn't do too hot on my Physics exam, but after talking to my friend Kenneth, I didn't feel as bad. It turns out that I'm not the only one who decided that school is pointless.

The funny thing is when I told him I was going to put this in my blog, this is what he said:

While he was giving me the screenshot suggestion, I was talking a screenshot! You know what they say... great minds think alike (:

Well, this morning, when I was driving to school, I saw an increase in gas prices at the 7-11 on the corner of my street. Being the poor student that I am, I hurried and drove to Kroger to see if they raised their prices. Thankfully they didn't, so I filled up my tank. It was SO COLD this morning. My hands were red when I got back into my car. I tried taking a picture of me filling up on gas, but I dropped my camera instead. The top part is cracked, but it's still usable! You can't really see it in the picture though.

When I got to school at 8:10AM, I wanted to go ask my Calculus teacher some questions I didn't understand on the review. However, to my surprise, she wasn't in her room this morning. I wasn't the only one with questions though, so, we sat outside her room like ducks and stared at our notes.

After the Calculus exam, I went to band. I took my band exam yesterday, but the brass players had to take theirs today. I was super bored so I took pictures of random stuff!

The cadenza part of my solo

Pedro's reed case compared to my tiny one

A note I wrote to Jason on the back of Yogurtland recipes since I didn't have any paper

Some slides that I found in George's car

Okay, well, I'm off to work now! I'm so excited to be teaching sick, smelly, impatient children how to do basic math and reading!
[edit]
WOWOW, So today at Kumon, the power went out for like 2 hours. We had to send all the kids home because there wasn't any electricity, so no one could do their work. It was the most interesting unplanned events ever! I've been working at Kumon for 3 years and NEVER has that happened before! Apparently there was some really nasty accident and they messed up the power cords. All the stores along the strip had their power off. It was so funny because some students were hesitant to enter the building. I guess I'm the only one who finds this incident hilarious.

So cold I could see my breath

HAPPY BIRTHDAY WILLIAMM SHU (:
-------------------------------------------------------------------------------
I hate getting out of bed when it's freezing outside. This morning, when I got out of my covers to go brush my teeth, my legs were greeted by the coolness of my room. It wasn't very pleasant at all. I grabbed my hello kitty blanket and scurried to the bathroom. After changing into my outfit, I glanced at my comfortable bed one last time before heading off to school.

While driving to school, I thinking about my AP Economics exam which led me to think of a conversation my Daddy and I had last night. We were talking about Starbucks last night- how they're going out of business because the recessions we're in. No longer are people willing to waste 3.40$ on a cup of coffee that they can just brew at home! Thinking about coffee made me want Starbucks, so I drove my way to the nearest coffee shop and ordered a Tall White Chocolate Mocha with extra foam! Not only was it delicious, but it also warmed me up since my car doesn't have a heater.

Aww, my gloves make my hand look like bear paws ):

Exams today were okay. Economics was not as hard as I expected, but just because I said that, I probably did poorly. I wish I did better on my band exam though. I got really nervous when my band director made me play my solo in front of the class. I thought he was going to pick the cadenza, so I practiced that for hours, but he choose the sextuplet runs instead. It was ridiculous and I messed up really bad even though I knew how to play them. Oh well... there's no use crying over spilled milk.
-------------------------------------------------------------------
I think I'll update later since today's been a pretty slow day.
-------------------------------------------------------------------
I just finished watching Factory Girl. It was pretty good. A little disturbing, but now I'm obsessed with Edie Sedgwick. She's just gorgeous. Off to Calculus! Ciao~

Crazy Calculus!

There's no better way to starting your day with some AP Calculus BC! Today our teacher handed back the test we took a few days ago. I thought I did really bad, but my grade turned out to be mediocre. Not great, but not awful either. Speaking of awful, this kid who sits adjacent from me did pretty bad on his test. He got a 27... and that's with the curve. It's okay, I don't blame him only because our teacher flies through notes and expects us to do magic on our homework. This one really smart French kid got a 106 on the test. Just for the funnies, I took a picture of both their tests together so you can compare.

Oh well, better luck next time! (:

George and I had a lovely surprise awaiting us at the end of the period though! For the first time in 8 weeks, we both got hundreds on our homework quizzes!

Oh the joy! I think I died with happiness, but only for half a second because I had an AP Human Geography exam next period. Today was the last day of Human Geography! That's kinda exciting, but kinda not because Human Geo was such an easy course. I did relatively well on my exam. The class period before ours did amazing, but for some reason, I think if the teacher were to go back and grade some of the exams, the grades in that class would drop dramatically.

I'm so excited that tomorrow is a half day! Yay Wednesday's! Did you know that Wednesday's are the best? That's because Wednesday's are happy days! If you don't believe me, just watch. Tomorrow you're going to have an amazing day. The only bad thing about Wednesday's are NHS meetings... but that's entirely a different story. I didn't post my outfit today because it's not worthy of being posted. It was very plain and totally uninspiring. It was too cold to wear what I had originally planned. Stupid bipolar Texas weather!

Monday's Madness

Entry number 2!

Does anyone want a update on the couch ordeal? Well... some Mexican family decided to take the adorable couch on their own adventure! Cute huh? I'm sure it's going to enjoy it's new home.

Despite the cold weather, I decided to wear a yellow tank top to cheer myself up because I had to take exams today. Paired with a belt I just bought a few days ago, I think it made a adorable outfit. It didn't seem appropriate for the weather, but who cares. Today was the only semi-warm day this week, so I took advantage of it!

So, this morning, when I was driving to school, the car in front me me had this license plate!

DCI GROUP! (That stands for Drum Core International for anyone who's not a band kid) This reminds me of marching band! I miss marching band so much. I miss spending Saturday afternoons in the stands watching other bands perform their shows. I miss standing on my tiny podium conducting. I miss listening to the metronome while trying to perfect the 8-5 step size. Oh the nostalgia.

Well, on another note, first day of exams! They wern't as bad as I anticipated. AP Art History was easy breezy, but AP Physics C... that's another story. I just hope I pass.

Oh the places you can go!

Wow, this is exciting (:
My first blog entry.

Yesterday, I went on an unplanned adventure! I went to Jason's house to do my Art History review since I didn't want to stay home and do it by myself. Upon arriving at his house, we decided to go to McDonald's because a) he was hungry and b) because he wanted to break the world record of eating the most Big Mac's in a day. After grabbing a quick bite to eat, we headed back to his house to do something productive- study for our exams. As we were driving home, we saw a free couch sitting in the middle of someone's yard. We couldn't let this opportunity fly past us! A free couch?! Who in the world WOULDN'T want a free couch? So, he stopped the car, we got out, and attempted to get the couch into his car.

The couch was one of those bed/couch things, so it was pretty heavy and I couldn't really lift it, so Jason did most of the work. We tried a lot of ways to get the couch into his car. Thankfully, there was also a trash can nearby, so we used it as a lever. After 30 minutes of attempting to maneuver the couch into his car, we succeeded, but not without humiliating ourselves because the person who owned the couch came outside and stared at us while we were trying to get the couch out of his yard. It was hilarious. I drove back to his house while Jason ran behind the car to ensure that the couch didn't fall out from the trunk of the car. When we got to his house, he began to unload the couch.

Unloading the couch was the easy part, getting the couch into his house was the hard part. So, we decided to unload the couch onto a tiny red wagon. It didn't work out too well.

Long story short, we unloaded the couch onto the wagon. The couch got stuck in a bunch of bushes, so we abandoned the wagon and tried a flipping technique to move the couch. Finally, after 40 minutes of lifting, pushing, and abusing the couch, we successfully moved it to the front door. Unfortunately, it wouldn't fit through the door! We tried different methods to try to get the couch inside, but they all failed in the end.

So, we put the couch back onto the red wagon and put it next to his mailbox so another person can have the same fun filled adventure we did (:
